To better understand the relationship between the structures and functions of cell and their organelles, we were required to create a 3-D cell model of either a plant or animal cell.
The model to the right is a plant cell created with:
The model to the right is a plant cell created with:
- A green shoe-box for the cell wall
- Cotton balls for the cytoplasm
- Various colors of play-dough for organelles such as the vacuole, chloroplasts and centrosome
- Foam balls that were painted to represent amylosplasts, nucleus and nucleolus
- Pipe cleaner for the rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum, the golgi body and the cell and nuclear membrane
- Beads for representation of the ribosomes that are free standing and membrane-bound
- Folded cardboard for use of the mitochondria
All cell structures and their functions are further explained on the following pages. Go ahead, take a look!
