Well for starters you need to know that the people who classify these things are called Taxonomist. Speciation, the formation of new and distinct species in the course of evolution, usually occurs when there is a geographic isolation between a species.
- Allopatric Speciation- geographic isolation that prevents the gene flow between a species and creates two new groups, some causes include mountains and rivers.
- Parapatric Speciation- partial geographic isolation that limits the gene flow for a species with selective pressures.
- Sympatric Speciation- high selective pressure that creates boundaries for a species without geographical boundaries.
- Selective Pressure- anything that reduces reproductive success in proportion in a population.
This video shows you what classification is.
